I'm Still Here!

U h! I have been very, very lazy lately. I haven't written anything on my blog for the longest time. Not that there hasn't been anything going on in my life lately, in fact, too much that I don't know how to put them into words. Just didn't have the creative juice in me these past weeks, I guess.

Ok, well, work has been the same though. Our department has just started another project which will keep us really busy for the rest of the month, probably even until the end of the next.

Vacation-wise, hubby and I are planning on driving to Hampton Beach for the long weekend (American Independence Day is on July 4th). We will most likely be leaving very early on Friday, the 3rd. Hopefully, in time to catch a glimpse of the Sunrise by the beach. He made the reservation last week, but we have not really finalized it until last Saturday. I entrusted him with this task as he's been there before so he knows the place more than I do. It'll be my first. His family goes there for a vacation every year around this time. I guess, I'll post more about this when we come back.

Montreal in June

y ey! It's that time of the year again (hear the glee on my voice?). After over six months of cold weather, more than a dozen feet of snow each month, after hours and hours of snow storms and freezing rains resulting in slippery roads and sidewalks, the sun is back again...for good (I hope) this time! Yep, Summer is just around the corner.

For most people like me, who hibernate during the dreary winter months, the beating sun is very much welcomed. On this end of the city, the mercury is rapidly rising, and with it comes the Summer-long festivities. And now it begins.

Annual La Senza Warehouse Sale. For shopaholics like me, this is one of the much awaited warehouse sales of the year when La Senza warehouse opens their doors to the public. Shelves and shelves of girly things, from slutty lingeries to granny panties, jammies and silken teddies, scented candles to massage oils, Victoria Secret scented creams and lotions , and, oh, even kinky stuffs that you would only normally find inside sex shops. They have loads of kiddie stuff too, lounge wears and pretty skirts and socks. All of these for no more than $5 a piece! Buying them in their actual boutiques, your bill would definitely sky rocket! I dragged my husband there yesterday, he protested at first but I wasn't taking no for an answer so we went.

Vente de Trottoir. We will be having one around our neighbourhood next week. A whole 10 blocks of Wellington Street will be closed to give shop owners a chance to bring out their last season's stuffs to sell. Street sales are not as great as the Warehouse sales, but they are fun too. The best part about it is the throngs of people walking up and down the street looking like it's a fiesta and the music and dancing at each and every corner. I am going to this one too since it is just down the street from our place.

Formula 1 Grand Prix. The race will be held (where it normally is) at the man-made island a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city, right by the Saint Lawrence River seaway this weekend. Practice race is staring today and the qualifying round tomorrow afternoon, and of course the final race of Sunday. The track has been name "Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, after the French-Canadian winner of the 1978 race, who perished in 1982 during the practice for the Belgian Grand Prix. The party has already started, as drivers, women (with their flesh revealing outfits) and spectators graced downtown Montreal with their presence and with their Ferraris this week.

Montreal Jazz Festival. Eleven day-and-night musicals at the Quartier de Spectacles. Jazz music and all it's glory, eletro jazz, bossa nova, blues, hip hop and comedy music to name a few. The downtown area will once more be filled with jazz-lovers and what not. This year's event will feature famous legendary names like Aretha Fkanklin, Woody Allen, Leonard Cohen, Dianne Reeves, James Taylor, and the whole shibang. The event will be running for 2 weeks starting on June 25. This is a must see/attend festivity in Montreal.

L'International des Feux Loto-Québec. The Pyromusical Festival takes place in La Ronde, Quebec's largest amusement park from June 21 to August 6. This Competition is highly anticipated by leading pyrotechnic industries world-wide, a chance for them to showcase their work and to gain th highest distinction of being the best in the industry. This year, the event is attended by 9countries; France will open the event on the 21st, followed by Italy, South Korea, Portugal, Australia, Canada, Austria, United States of America and China. La Ronde, being the host will close the event with a bang on the 6th of August.

Just For Laughs Festival. Perhaps you're familiar with the TV program Just For Laughs, featuring stand-up comedies, spoofs and practical jokes. This year, we will be having the superstar of the movies Knocked Up and Superbad, Seth Rogen, and of course many other hollywood names that I am not familiar with. LOL!

This is why, no matter how much I hate the cold or no matter how much I hate the fact that I can't speak French as well as I want to , I can never seem to bring myself to move to a different city like most of my friends had done. Montreal is a great city, especially if you can see past the cold and the language issue.
