While the two nations, Israel and Lebanon are busy playing with aerial bombs and rocket fires, causing disruption to the whole world and killing hundreds of innocent people, another part of the world is uniting to save one precious life. This proves that there is still some goodness left in people.

Our first trip to the mountains. A gorgeous view from atop the Summit, overlooking the village down below.

Summer Fun
The weekend that just passed was one of the very few perfect weekends that we get to enjoy, well, weather-wise, that is. The temperature was well over 30 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. It was hot and humid...but I do prefer that over rain or snow!
Sometimes, I think I have a problem with the "straight line". I can't seem to walk straight without swerving to either the left or right...and no I'm not drunk. Same goes when I am playing pool. It takes me a few seconds, sometimes even minutes, when it is a difficult shot, to convince myself that it is the perfect angle. Mind you, over the years I have learned to adjust to this "difficulty".
Saturday night was so much fun. It was my very first mini golf game. And what do you know, I actually came in second (there were four of us in the team)! The place was very nice, well maintained I might say. Water obstacles, hilly slopes and dwarfed trees adorned the 18-hole course. My cousin said the place could use some fish and frogs on the ponds though. And since it's probably not a good idea to use citronella, I have to agree because the mosquitoes feasted on us! Fish and frogs would definitely help reduce the amount of mosquitoes in the area. Their milk shake was also to die for. I thought they used skim milk on it, sure tasted like it.
If Summer is only a bit longer...

I've danced alone a thousand times
To songs that no one else could even hear
I've reached into the flame of love
I couldn't hold it
And it disappeared
I've lived with ev'rything but you
I can't believe my eyes
I see you here
Lookin' just the way you should
Ooh
So good, it's too good to be true
I lived my life
To be lyin' here with you
ooh
I can't believe my eyes
I've felt the empty hands of time
As they were stealin' all my life away
I've heard the silence here inside
Waiting for words that lovers
Could not say
You turn a little into stone
With ev'ry night you spend alone
I can't believe my eyes
I see you here
Lookin' just the way you should
Ooh
So good, it's too good to be true
I lived my life
To be lyin' here with you
Ooh
Still, when I see you lyin' here
I can't believe my eyes

He was more than just a friend. He was my magic.
He brought out the best in me...and at times the worst...
But he's gone now...he no longer belongs to me...
...and yet, he never really did...

Hee hee! This sums up what I'm feeling right at this moment...something tells me this would help alleviate the monotony of my work...hee hee! The Dark Alley
It was already dark outside when I realized it was time to go home. The metro was late, this didn't come as a surprise though as more often than not, some weirdo jumps off the tracks in an attempt to commit suicide (they'd be lucky if some by-stander notices them before they succeed) . This scenario usually causes delays for up to an hour. I just was in no mood to wait this time (normally I would just suck it up and wait). I decided to go back upstairs and start walking. I figured it would be a good exercise, besides I was sure that there will be people walking as it was such a gorgeous night. I was already half-way home when I noticed two middle-aged men walking behind me. At first I thought they were just heading towards the same direction as me. It wasn't until after I crossed the street that I realized they were in fact following me! I started walking faster, almost like running...they were running after me...In a frantic pace, I turned at the first opening I saw...BIG MISTAKE! It was a long dark alley behind an abandoned building. It looked like one of those alleys you see in the movies where girls get raped or held up. It was too late for me to turn back as I saw one of the men closing in on me really fast. I was so scared and didn't know what to do...I tried to scream but it seems that my voice escaped me. Think girl...think! I tried running fast but he was faster. I prayed hard like I've never prayed before. I could almost see the end of the alley...I heard kids laughing and running not too far from where I was. I'd be safer there. I reached a row of houses made of scrap metal sheets, tires and card board boxes. The kids were playing hide and seek and were oblivious of what was about to happen. Suddenly in my attempt to run away from the man, I didn't see the tin can lying a few feet before me. I tripped, then suddenly I felt a strong grip on my waist followed by a voice calling my name.
I got up and saw Don sitting beside me wiping my tears and sweat.
"Honey, you were dreaming..."

Tri-City Picnic
My body is still sore from yesterday's activities. We've decided to attend the annual Tri-City Picnic in Long Sault, Ontario yesterday. The event was a gathering of the Filipino community from several different cities. However, one might notice that although the occasion was called Tri-City, it comprises of not only three cities but more. We arrived at the grounds of the Woodlands Island shortly after lunch, just in time for the serving of their infamous "lechon". This is actually one whole pig roasted over fire-wood.
The island reminds me so much of my home town. Lush greeneries, cool wind blowing from every direction, the bright sun which gives off a golden glow. The wild flowers dancing as the wind blows and birds hopping from one tree to the next as if marking their territories. There were wild ducks bathing on the river inhabited by fishies big and small. Seagulls sneaking underneath the picnic tables to snatch some left over food, while the little kids chase after them. It is a wonderful contrast from the city which I now live in. An awesome place to relax after a long week of a routinary work in the office.
There were lots of activities at the site, volley ball competition, baseball, fishing, badminton and of course the overflowing food and drinks. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. It was like a big "family reunion", and anybody can join in on these games. At first, it was hard for us to mingle with the different groups as we barely knew anybody except for a few of my fiance's relatives. But while watching the volley ball game from the court side, we were invited to join in with the fun. After the game, we played badminton with a couple from Dorion, while the guys headed over to the baseball field for some action. The kids went to the river for a dip (accompanied by their parents of course). Some opted to play cards and board games under the trees.
The day ended with a BBQ dinner hosted by hubby-to-be's uncle. It was already past seven in the evening when we left the island. It was time to head home, to get ready for another week of work.

While others rush to get their coffee and a bagel or bacon, eggs and a glass of orange juice, I find my way to roasted Pistachio nuts and a steaming cup of decaf... the only way to start my morning!
It is from these nuts that I derive my strength to go about another boring day in the office.

Testing the Waters
I have always been fascinated with people who find time to write, be it about anything that interests them or anything amusing or worth mentioning. So...that being said, I found myself wondering if I am also capable of keeping up with the constant exchange of thoughts on the world wide web!
So cheers to me! I think this is going to be the start of an interesting relationship between my computer and me!
